Ben Shephard admits he’s ‘trying to keep it together’ as he kicks off his final day on GMB with his longtime co-host Kate Garraway ahead of This Morning hosting stint

Ben Shephard started his last day on Good Morning Britain on Friday with his old presenter Kate Garraway.

The 49-year-old presenter is saying goodbye to the breakfast show after ten years hosting his long-time girlfriend Kate Garraway.

Within minutes of the show starting, both Ben and his longtime girlfriend Kate admitted they were struggling to control their emotions.

Kate said: ‘Oh my god, it’s not even a minute past six and that’s the last time I realize we’re going to hear ‘Good Morning Britain’ with Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway. I’m already gone, too emotional!’

Charlotte Hawkins gushed: ‘It’s quite a moment. We’ll do our best to keep it together today

Ben added: “I’m desperately trying to keep this together, we’ve got three hours. It’s wonderful to be here for the last time. And we have a busy show ahead of us too.”

Kate joked: “We’ve got three hours of other stuff, it’s not just Ben Shepard mania. Although it’s about 92%.’

Later in the show, tributes to Ben continued to pour in, with Kate saying: ‘We’re all going to miss Ben in the morning. The cheeky smile, the risky innuendos.”

She went on to joke, “Yes, our producers are somewhat relieved about that!”
