Ben Fordham goes rogue with an uncensored rant about Australia Day

2GB radio host Ben Fordham has issued a stark warning that Australia Day queues will take a dangerous turn, in a candid guest appearance on Sam Newman’s podcast.

He says the resounding no vote in The Voice referendum has caused deeper divisions in the country and predicted it will lead to a terrifying backlash.

Fordham blamed the country’s “p***-weak leaders” for allowing the row to fester – and says Australians will fight back after being empowered by the referendum result.

And he said respect had become a “one-way street”, with indigenous customs and beliefs being recognized at the expense of the rest of society.

“We have been recognizing traditional owners and leaders, past, present and emerging, every 15 minutes,” he said.

‘Why can’t we celebrate Australia Day on Australia Day?

“Part of that transaction, if I may put it so crudely, should be, ‘Well, go for your life – celebrate Australia Day on January 26.’ It seems to be a one-way street.’

Fordham grimly warned that a bitter reaction is now growing in the wake of the Indigenous Voice referendum rejection in parliament.

“It’s a very strange place we’re in,” he told Newman’s You Can’t Be Serious podcast

“You can’t try to convince the crowd of something when the crowd has made up its mind – and the crowd has made up its mind about these things.

‘It will now be harder to change some things like Australia Day after The Voice took place last year.

‘Aussies have now had real-world experience of standing up for themselves and not eating the s*** they’ve been fed – and achieving a victory at the end of the argument.

“So that’s why on things like Australia Day and whatever, they’re going to think, ‘No, we’re not going to give in here. We’re going to fight back.’

Fordham said he was glad the date was changed to something else, but warned that even then, Invasion Day protests won’t stop.

He added: ‘I’m tired of starting this recurring nightmare every year… it’s like deja vu every year.’

“I don’t care what day it is, as long as we have a day,” he said.

But he added: “If we change the date, the protests will not stop. Not on your life. They’re going to happen anyway.”

He blamed a lack of leadership for the growing crisis and called for a tougher stance from authorities.

“We have leaders, Sam, who are incredibly weak,” he said in a phone call on the podcast.

Fordham’s outburst came after Newman attacked the “sickening round of pandering and nonsense” he said surrounds Australia Day.

“You can see in other parts of the world that sometimes there’s a rogue president or prime minister who comes out and says, ‘You know what? I’m not awake yet. I’m not politically correct. to fall for all these things.”

“They’re out there. So they do exist, we just don’t have them here at the moment.’

“Would there be any chance that anyone could take this country back and run it properly?” Newman, 78, hit.

‘Not at the expense of people who are here first or people who were here last? Can we embrace the country we live in?’

He added: ‘All these actors are white as snow and fall over their dishonesty to portray their feigned virtuosity.

“It’s so chilling, and it’s so obvious.”
