BelVita Breakfast Sandwich cookies are being recalled NATIONWIDE after reports of allergic reactions
In the United States, two types of belVita Breakfast Sandwich have been recalled due to a possible allergic reaction to peanuts.
New Jersey-based Mondelez Global LLC has voluntarily recalled two flavors of its breakfast sandwiches — Dark Chocolate Creme and Cinnamon Brown Sugar with Vanilla Creme — after three unconfirmed reports of allergic reactions, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced Monday.
Those flavors may contain peanut, which is not on the ingredient list. “People with an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts may risk severe or life-threatening allergic reactions by consuming these products,” the agency said.
The recall is limited to those two flavors, which were sold in stores in the United States.
“We became aware of this issue during an internal manufacturing inspection when we discovered the possible presence of peanut protein residue on the line used to make these products,” Mondelez said in the statement.
The FDA urged consumers with peanut allergies to discard these products.

Symptoms include hives, redness, swelling, itching or tingling around the mouth and throat, diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, narrowing of the throat, shortness of breath and runny nose.
