The ’90s teen drama addressed important themes, including racism, at the fictional Hartley High.

The drama, which aired on Channel 10 and ABC from 1994 to 1999, launched the careers of Ada Nicodemou and Callan Mulvey, among others.

Speaking to Ny Breaking Australia in 2021, Alex said he felt “really lucky”.

“I’ve been very lucky with the way it’s been set up and structured,” he said.

“I was a teenager and we made a movie first, The Heartbreak Kid, and it was a huge success… I was kind of this young, emerging star and they really put me in the spotlight,” Alex said.

‘And I had no idea what was going on, I was just going with the flow and I was very, very young and just out there, living my dream I guess… I knew I was good at it. [acting] and I knew I had a potential good future, but it’s not something I ever thought I would do. It was pretty wild.’

Alex said that despite his early fame, he always remained humble and down to earth.

“I dealt with it normally, people asked, ‘How are you, how is your life?’” he added.

‘I stayed the same person. I started visualizing where I wanted to go with this thing and not getting caught up in [the idea of] “how wonderful i am.”
