The 2023 Golden Boy Index was announced on Tuesday morning, with a large contingency of British-born players and Premier League youth.

Jude Bellingham, Harvey Elliott and Rico Lewis have all been named in the top 20 of the 2023 Index, in which Italian newspaper Tuttosport teams up with The Times and L’Equipe to find the best youngster.

It is a prestigious award won by some of the biggest names in football to date, including Kylian Mbappé, Erling Haaland and Anthony Martial.

Bellingham – who recently signed for LaLiga giants Real Madrid in a £113million deal – has been recognized in the 2023 Index for his impressive contribution at Borussia Dortmund.

While Harvey Elliott and Rico Lewis have been credited for their performances in the Premier League during the 2022-2023 season – placing 14th and 17th respectively.

They are joined by nine other players who are English or play football in the Premier League.

Jamal Musiala occupies the top spot after being the highest rated young person according to the Golden Boy Index. However, there are several English players who pinch him by the toes.

Bellingham follows just behind the Bayern Munich star in second, while Pablo Gavi comes in third.

Bellingham’s inclusion was not surprising as he was recently named Bundesliga Player of the Season after starring for Dortmund, who agonizingly missed out on the title on the final day of the campaign.

He scored his first goal for England in their World Cup victory over Iran before moving to Real Madrid for £113 million this summer.

In terms of Premier League youth, Elliott is included in the Golden Boy Index this year and is 14th in the standings.

Manchester City’s Lewis is also ranked 17th, while Brighton’s Levi Colwill is ranked 23rd.

Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho reached the top 50 and placed 32nd on the Golden Boy Index.

Brighton also had a strong contingency with Evan Ferguson (44), Julio Enciso (48) and Facundo Buonanotte (86) working their way into the top 100.

Lewis Hall and Carney Chukwuemeka also made an appearance, occupying 95th and 98th respectively. While City’s Maximo Perrone came in on 96.

There were several English youngsters playing football abroad who also entered the Golden Boy Index.

Jamie Bynoe-Gittens – who plays his football at Borussia Dortmund – has been named as the 39th highest rated player, while Iling-Junior – who plays for Juventus – came in 92nd.
