A Belarusian actor charged with an alleged indecent act on the flight to Australia has been sacked from the cast of an Adelaide Fringe Festival show.

Actor Aleh Sidorchyk, 61, appeared in Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday via City Watchhouse video link, accused of committing an indecent act towards another person on his Malaysian Airlines flight from Kuala Lumpur to Adelaide. on Sunday.

He was released on bail but was ordered to surrender his passport, report to Hindley St police station on Friday and not leave the state.

The court heard that the matter is likely to be resolved at the next hearing on Monday, after which Sidorchyk will be allowed to fly out of the country on Tuesday.

Sidorchyk was set to appear in the Fringe Dogs of Europe show but was cut from the cast of the Belarusian Free Theater production, the Festival’s executive director Kath Mainland said.

“Aleh Sidorchyk will no longer appear on Dogs of Europe and will be replaced by Ilya Yasinski and Igor Shugaleev,” Ms. Mainland told the Adelaide Advertiser.

“The production will premiere on Thursday night and will continue through Monday, March 6, as scheduled.”

Belarus Free Theater is a 20-person troupe operating in political exile from its homeland.

After a court appearance, Sidorchyk (pictured) was released on bail, but had to surrender his passport.

The alleged indecent act occurred on a Malaysian Airlines flight from Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.
