WWE superstar Becky Lynch revealed she was ‘scared’ of having to tell Vince McMahon about her pregnancy in 2020.
At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Women’s Money in the Bank competition was won by Asuka. With the win, she also became the WWE Women’s Champion as Lynch vacated the title while pregnant with her daughter Roux.
In her autobiography The Man: Not Your Average Girl, Lynch recalled the nervousness when she and her husband, Seth Rollins, learned about the pregnancy and realized they had to tell the WWE chief.
“I will tell him (Vince) that I can still continue working,” she wrote. “You know, maybe I could… I could make a documentary about this.
“Or maybe I could be an advisor to the creative team or something? I was looking for ways to save my job.’

McMahon’s reaction was far from what Lynch expected as he beamed with excitement at the news
Lynch’s husband Seth Rollins warned that McMahon will “probably be angry” about the news
McMahon has recently been in the heat of sex trafficking allegations. In her autobiography, former UFC and WWE champion Ronda Rousey compared McMahon to Saudi Arabia.
“How am I going to tell Vince?” “I turned to Colby (Seth Rollins) and realized that outside of our immediate family, the most powerful man in wrestling had to be the first recipient of our news,” Lynch continued.
Lynch’s concerns went so far as to get her berated or fired by the company. However, Rollins said, “I don’t think so. But he’ll probably be angry.’
Lynch later revealed that McMahon’s reaction was far from what she expected. During a phone call, she told McMahon, “We have a problem. I’m five weeks pregnant.’ Before she finished presenting an alternative, her boss interrupted her, beaming with excitement.
‘Congratulations! Oh my God Rebekah! That’s fantastic news. Wow! I am so happy for you!’ McMahon responded by the book.
Lynch returned from maternity leave the following year at Summer Slam and famously defeated Bianca Belair in 26 seconds to win the Smackdown Women’s title.
One of the most decorated WWE stars, Lynch has held the NXT Women’s title, the Raw Women’s title twice, the Smackdown Women’s title four times and the Women’s tag team championship with Lita.
Lynch will face the current titleholder, Rhea Ripley, at Wrestlemania 40 in April.
