The beloved star, 54, was found dead at his Los Angeles home on Saturday, and tributes from celebrities and fans alike have poured in from around the world.

Despite never being filmed at the location, the Bedford Street building served as an exterior shot in the TV show Friends and quickly became an iconic tourist hotspot.
Many people stood in the pouring rain to lay flowers and leave notes at the makeshift memorial for the beloved actor. One fan, carrying a Friends tote bag, started crying at the somber tribute.

One note on the New York tribute read: “Thank you for being our friend.
“You are so loved and will be missed for generations.”
In his memoirs, Matthew Perry spoke briefly about how he would like to be remembered after his death.
“When I die, I know people will talk about friends, friends, friends,” he wrote.
“And I’m happy about that, happy that I’ve done a good job as an actor, and that I’ve given people multiple opportunities to make fun of my struggles on the World Wide Web.

“But when I die, as far as my so-called achievements go, it would be nice if Friends would stand far behind the things I did to help other people.
“I know it won’t happen, but it would be nice.”
The actor, who rose to fame as the sarcastic Chandler Bing in the groundbreaking ’90s sitcom, was found dead at his Los Angeles home on Saturday after emergency services were called around 4pm local time.
He had reportedly played a two-hour game of Pickleball – a sport similar to tennis but played on a smaller court – earlier in the day before sending his assistant out on an errand. When they returned, Perry was found lifeless in his hot tub.
Friends, which followed the lives of six friends in their twenties living in New York, was a huge success around the world when it aired between 1994 and 2004, and reruns are still hugely popular years later.
In his personal life, Perry has never married and he ended his engagement to Molly Hurwitz, a talent manager, in 2021. He also dated several well-known actresses throughout his life, including Julia Roberts and Lizzy Caplan.

All his life, Perry was that way candid and public about his problems with drugs and alcoholafter first entering rehab in 1997 for an addiction to pain medication following a jet ski accident.
After this first period, he went to rehab again in 2001 and 2011. In 2016, he told an interviewer that he doesn’t remember filming three seasons of Friends.
Perry wrote in his memoir published last year that he spent $9 million to get sober. He revealed that he had attended 6,000 AA meetings, been to rehab 15 times and been in detox 65 times.
Despite hiding his demons from the public for years, Perry detailed his struggles in his 2022 memoir, Friends, Lovers And The Big Terrible Thing.
In the opening he wrote: ‘Hello, my name is Matthew, although you may know me by another name. My friends call me Matty. And I should be dead.”
He added: “People would be surprised to know that I have been mostly sober since 2001. Except for about sixty to seventy minor accidents over the years.’

The Los Angeles County coroner has listed Matthew Perry’s cause of death as “deferred” pending final toxicology test results.
Perry, 54, was found dead in the hot tub of his Los Angeles home on Saturday.
On Sunday afternoon, the coroner released his body to the family, but said they have not yet determined a cause of death.
His assistant’s first 911 call was for cardiac arrest.
The medical examiner’s office may release initial results within days, but it could also take six to eight weeks for final results from toxicology tests to come back.
