Bec Judd declares the Victorian justice system is ‘well and truly obliterated’ after multiple teen criminals were set free on bail

Footy WAG Bec Judd has again blasted the Victorian government for its management of the youth crime wave plaguing Melbourne’s most affluent suburbs.

The state’s crime crisis was once again in the spotlight this weekend after multiple headlines reported that underage offenders had been released on bail in Victoria.

Among them were five minors who were charged and then released after a high-speed police car chase.

A 16-year-old was also accused of hitting a man with a baseball bat but was released on bail for the third time in nine months.

Similarly, a 17-year-old with hundreds of previous charges was also arrested in the upscale suburb of Bayside on Saturday on carjacking charges, but released on bail within hours.

Bec was outraged by the headlines and used Instagram Stories to take aim at the Victorian government.

“And so it goes on… and on…,” she wrote alongside the headlines on Saturday.

Bec also reacted to the news of a violent home invasion in the posh suburb of Beaumaris, a stone’s throw from Bec’s $7.3 million mansion in Brighton. The victim was left in hospital.

“And one more… I’m so sorry for the victim. I know it’s typical to say this, but the system has been wiped out for good,” Bec wrote.

Just last week, a similar incident took place at another house in Beaumaris, when three perpetrators broke in and assaulted a 74-year-old man at around 1:30 am on Monday.

The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition.

It’s not the first time Rebecca has spoken publicly about her concerns over the recent spike in youth crime plaguing Victoria.

In June 2022, Rebecca made headlines by saying she felt ‘unsafe’ in her country home, following a spate of home burglaries in her area.

On Instagram, the WAG claimed the Victorian government ‘didn’t seem to care’ about the ‘rapes, bashing and home invasions by the gangs in Bayside’.

“I personally know two women who have experienced house burglaries in Brighton in recent weeks while at home,” she said.

She also posted CCTV footage of a group of young men lurking outside properties in her affluent suburb, claiming it made her feel ‘unsafe’.

The teens, who were reportedly armed with knives, were filmed lurking outside several properties in the Bayside area before crashing a stolen BMW into a tree.

In February the following year, Rebecca doubled down on her claim that Melbourne’s elite suburbs are under siege by criminals after a man’s luxury Mercedes was stolen with his dog still inside.

“Same shit, different night. Yesterday, the Queensland Government announced major changes to the laws young people are breaking, following community outrage. It’s time the Victorian Government did the same,” she wrote.

More recently, Rebecca last month called on Ms Allan to ‘fix the system’, following the alleged murder of Dr Ashley Gordon by two teenagers.

Rebecca said on Instagram at the time that it was sad to see how broken the justice system had become, and pleaded with Ms Allan to lock up offenders.

‘This story is so sad. The justice system is broken. Fix this Jacinta Allan. Let this be your legacy,” she wrote alongside a report on Dr Gordon’s death.

“Until the ‘prevention first’ strategy starts to work among teens (could take years. It may never work!), keep the community safe by locking up violent offenders.”
