She was just 16 years old when she was paired with then 18-year-old Lleyton Hewitt in 1999 to take part in a charity tennis match for the Starlight Children's Foundation.

And in a recently emerged TV interview, Bec Hewitt has revealed she knew almost nothing about tennis when she met her future husband.

'I've never followed any sport. As for knowing Lleyton, I never saw him in his tennis form, I never saw what he was like on the court,” she said in the footage.

“I hadn't met him until we played the Starlight Cup, so I only knew him for the nice young man he was.”

Bec added that although her tennis skills left a lot to be desired, she still managed to impress Lleyton.

'I couldn't play tennis, so it was quite funny. I didn't impress him with my playing, he just thought it was admirable that I tried.”

Despite meeting in 1999, the pair were both in relationships with other people and it wasn't until 2005, when they were both single, that they started dating and got married in July that year.

Bec then quit her acting career on Home and Away so she could focus on being a full-time mother to the three children they had together.

Nineteen years later, the power couple has one of the strongest marriages in Australian showbiz.

The couple tied the knot at the Sydney Opera House and were married in a lavish wedding ceremony at Taronga Zoo.

The couple have three children: Mia, 17, and Ava, 13, and son Cruz, 11.

After their wedding, they moved to Nassau Island in the Bahamas with their children after purchasing a $3.8 million villa on the Old Fort Bay estate.

In 2016, the Hewitts left the Bahamas and returned to Melbourne, where they bought their Toorak home a year later in April 2017.

Last year they temporarily moved to Sydney for Bec's appearance on Dancing with the Stars and to escape Melbourne's Covid lockdowns.

They have since moved to the Gold Coast.
