Bebe Rexha admits to feeling anxiety and stress about going on red carpet at MTV Video Music Awards due to weight gain in candid TikTok video

Bebe Rexha admitted on social media Monday that she was worried about attending the MTV Video Music Awards on Tuesday in New Jersey.

The 34-year-old singer posted a candid video entitled ‘Anxiety sucks’ for her more than 8.5 million followers on TikTok.

Bebe noted at the beginning of the clip that the VMAs are Tuesday and she was extremely nervous.

She said she felt “very grateful and blessed” to be invited to the awards ceremony after being nominated for Best Collaboration for I’m Good (Blue) with David Guetta, 55.

‘I know the criticism has to do with the territory, so I’m completely fine with that. I mean, sometimes it gets to me. I’m human,” Bebe said as she addressed the camera in a black top with her long blonde hair down.

“But I just wanted to talk about this because I meet a lot and a lot of times they’ll say, ‘Oh my gosh, I love that you’re all about positivity and self-confidence.’ “I can tell you I’m not feeling very confident right now,” she added.

‘I’m so anxious and stressed when I go on the red carpet and, I think, people talking about my weight. Because I don’t really love myself right now. I don’t really feel like the bad girl I normally am,” she continued.

Bebe said she wanted to make the video because she realized everyone has “these days” and “no one ever feels perfect.”

‘I don’t know if I’ll go tomorrow. I do have an outfit. It’s cute. And I want to wear my dress, and I really want to go celebrate my nomination and my friends’ nominations, but I feel like fear is taking over,” Bebe said.

The singer asked her fans for “motivational tips and tricks” and said she might be on the red carpet at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Tuesday.

Bebe confirmed in July that she had split from cinematographer Keyan Safyarion after three years together, when she broke down in tears during a performance at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London.

“I just got out of a breakup, so I might be getting a little emotional and you need to help me,” she told the audience.

Bebe didn’t let the breakup get the better of her and put on an incredible show for fans before hitting a nightclub in London.

She previously shared a vile ‘fat-shaming’ text allegedly sent by her ex on her Instagram Stories and it was subsequently posted by Pop Crave.

In the text addressed to the artist, a person posing as Safyari said to her: “You have gained 35 pounds, you have clearly gained weight and your face is changing? Should I just pretend it didn’t happen and that it’s okay?’

In the text message to the Brooklyn resident, whose full name is Bleta Rexha, the person believed to be Keyan said, “Hey. I never said you weren’t beautiful and I never said I didn’t love you. I even said how beautiful you are and how much I loved you.

“But I always said I would be honest with you and your face changed, so I said that too.”

In the lengthy message, Keyan allegedly said: “Come on, I gained three pounds and you called me chubby and fat. That doesn’t mean you don’t love me. If you’re trying to find reasons to break up, this makes sense… but it’s not the real reason.

“If you’re unhappy with me/yourself/life and don’t see a future with us, that’s okay and that’s why.”

The person believed to be Keyan told Rexha — who has been outspoken about body positivity issues in the past — in the text not to use the issue of appearance “to weaponize her anger, fear or insecurities.”

“You know I always thought you were beautiful and loved you anyway,” Keyan allegedly told her.

Keyan reportedly advised Bebe to “think about things and write things down, talk to a therapist and do this retreat to get to the root of the problem.”

He concluded the email by saying, “If you need further clarification, please let me know. Love you.’

Bebe had been linked to Keyan since 2020.

The singer begged the public in June to stop discussing her 30-pound weight gain, which she revealed was caused by polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

She told her followers on Twitter that she was tired of hearing criticism about her appearance.

‘I know I’ve gotten fat. It makes me so sick of people talking about it. NEXT ONE!!!!!!’ she wrote.

In another tweet, she added, “People go through weight swings, it’s life and you don’t know what people are going through. Medicines, diseases, etc…’
