A police officer accused of murdering a Sydney couple has not entered a plea to a double murder charge as his lawyer admits it’s a “bit of a stretch” for the alleged killer.
Luke Davies and his partner Jessie Baird were allegedly murdered in Sydney’s east when Beaumont Lamarre-Condon shot them with his service weapon while off-duty in February.
The crime is said to have been committed at Mr Baird’s home in inner-city Paddington.
The 28-year-old senior officer was dismissed from the NSW Police Force after being arrested and charged with the murder of both men.
He remains in custody.
Outside court, Mr Walford did not say whether his client Beau Lamarre-Condon (pictured) would plead guilty or not guilty to the charges.
Lamarre-Condon’s lawyer, John Walford, appeared in Sydney’s Downing Center Local Court on Tuesday.
He told Deputy Chief Magistrate Sharon Freund that his client had only received partial evidence from police.
Ms. Freund postponed the case for eight weeks, as requested by police prosecutors.
The case will return to court on June 18.
Outside court, Mr Walford did not say whether his client would plead guilty or not guilty to the charges.
But he said Lamarre-Condon was doing well, considering the circumstances.
“It would be very tough for him at the moment, but it’s tough for everyone,” he said.
Asked by reporters whether the allegations were defensible, Mr. Walford replied: “They could be.”

Mr Baird was farewelled at a funeral in Melbourne in March.
Those who knew the couple spoke fondly of them and wanted them to be remembered as they lived, rather than for their tragic ends.
Police allege Lamarre-Condon’s Feb. 19 attack was premeditated after a months-long campaign of “predatory behavior” directed against Mr. Baird, with whom the officer had a brief relationship.
The couple’s bodies were only found on February 27 in surfboard bags near the fence of a rural estate at Bungonia near Goulburn, about 200km south-west of Sydney.
Lamarre-Condon joined the team in 2019 and previously ran a celebrity blog, in which he posed with dozens of A-listers including Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and Harry Styles.
