Bears quarterback Caleb Williams falls for embarrassing prank by crafty NFL fans
Caleb Williams appears to have fallen victim to an embarrassing prank involving a group of guys posing as the Bears’ new head coach.
Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson will reportedly interview for the role on Saturday following the firing of Matt Eberflus earlier this season.
In a prank that has swept social media, a group of guys texted a number supposedly belonging to Williams — and then FaceTimed someone who looked like the Bears quarterback and No. 1 draft pick.
“Hey Caleb, this is Ben Johnson. “I just wanted to make contact in advance before it is released in the media: I will take the job of HC (head coach),” they initially wrote via text.
‘I am very much looking forward to working with you in the future. Great stuff.’ The message initially provoked skeptical reactions. ‘Actually? Ben,” it said.
‘Yes. I wanted you to be the first to know. We will discuss further as the season comes to a close,” the group responded.

The group later Facetimed the number and someone who looked like Williams answered the call
Williams was selected by the Chicago Bears with the first overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft
This time the recipient, reportedly Williams, was more receptive. “Okay nice. Sounds good,” they said.
‘I’m definitely (definitely) excited about the future! Let’s get this going and turn it around and do what hasn’t been done in years! In the sentence!! Go fucking kill it! We’ll talk soon.’
Johnson currently runs the offense for the Detroit Lions, who are preparing for the playoffs as they chase their first-ever Super Bowl crown.
After exchanging messages, the group then video-called the number and it was answered by someone who bore a strong resemblance to the Bears quarterback.
“Hey Caleb, it’s me, Ben Johnson,” one of the boys said, unable to contain his laughter. “Come to the dolphins, buddy!” shouted another.
After telling his friend to shut up, the boy said on camera, “You’re a great QB, I’m so happy you’re getting a new head coach.” I don’t know if it’s Ben Johnson. I’m sorry about this.’
The person on the other end of the line, apparently Williams, took the joke well. ‘All’s well, all’s well. Rest!’ he said, before the pranksters celebrated wildly in their living room.
