Bears DB apologizes for ‘lack of focus’ in taunting Commanders crowd before getting beaten on miracle Hail Mary

Chicago Bears’ Tyrique Stevenson has apologized for his “lack of focus” in mocking Washington Commanders fans before allowing a spectacular game-losing Hail Mary touchdown on Sunday.

After Jayden Daniels’ final touchdown pass to Noah Brown – which was actually tipped through Stevenson’s hands – video was created from the cornerback who was jawing with the fans at the start of the game.

That video has since been viewed 3.7 million times on X, and on Sunday night, Stevenson took to the platform to explain the embarrassing moment.

“To Chicago and teammates, I apologize for the lack of awareness and focus…. The game isn’t over until the clock hits zeros,” he wrote.

“I can’t take anything for granted. Notes have been taken, improvements will occur.’

Stevenson brought his hand to the ball and tapped it into Brown’s hands for the Washington win

Stevenson actually had his back turned to the line of scrimmage when Daniels snapped the ball.

He rushed to get back into the game, but ultimately saw his attempt to knock the ball downhill go horribly wrong as it ended up in Brown’s hands.

Bears coach Matt Eberflus said after the game that the play was something the team had practiced “a hundred times” since he joined the franchise in 2022.

“I’ll have to look at what the execution of that was, but we have a body on a body and box guys all the way out like basketball,” he said. told reporters.

Stevenson had seven tackles on Sunday afternoon before a September game

“We’ve got one guy on the perimeter who’s knocking the ball down. We have a tipster who goes behind the pile. I’ve got to look at it and work it out and make sure we’re better next time.”

Before the 52-yard Hail Mary, Stevenson had tallied seven tackles and one pass defended.

He and the Bears will look to bounce back from Sunday’s heartbreaking loss at the Cardinals.
