Tragic update after man was last seen jumping off a wall into the rain-swollen Beardmore Dam in Queensland
A man’s body has been recovered from a rain-swollen dam after he jumped from a wall into the water and never resurfaced.
Emergency services rushed to Beardmore Dam in St George, south-west Queensland, after a man was reported missing on Sunday afternoon.
It is understood the man, in his 40s, jumped from the dam wall and tried to resurface but was pulled into a strong current.
His body was found in the water just before 6 a.m. on Tuesday.
The grim discovery comes after police, SES, rapid water rescue crews and air teams searched for the missing man.
The search was called off late on Sunday and resumed at 6am on Monday, with police divers also called in to assist.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
Authorities have since called on locals to leave the search to emergency services.

After months of heavy rain, the dam is currently 102.4 percent full.
