BBC viewers are left cringing at ’embarrassing’ moment newsreader is caught ‘fake typing’ in panic before cameras shut off

This is the moment BBC viewers cringed as a newsreader started ‘fake typing’ in a moment of panic before the cameras switched off.

Host Pam Caulfield delivered the news bulletin on Points West on Sunday afternoon with seemingly no problems.

But she confused viewers when she bizarrely started typing on her laptop as she awkwardly waited for the cameras to stop filming.

‘But that’s it from me! I hope you have a nice afternoon, whatever you plan to do. Bye!’ Pam said cheerfully as she ended her segment.

Without seeming to know what else to do, she turned to her laptop and absentmindedly punched the keys.

The bluff did not go unnoticed by viewers who were amused by the unconvincing move.

“What a shame,” one wrote, while another added: “10/10 for the fake typing!”

A third said: ‘I wonder what she writes there,’ and another replied: ‘Definitely not in the office.’

Some Twitter users began joking about what Pam could have written, with one simply commenting: “Lhckyddyiekydoyditdkg.”

One social media user commented, “I love the way her fingers start moving before they reach the keyboard,” while memes poured in: “Everyone pretends to work at 4pm on a Friday.”

The now viral clip, which has been viewed almost a million times on Twitter (X) alone, was even shared by BBC News’ official Bristol account, with the caption ‘Fake typingactivated’.

Luckily, Pam saw the funny side of the incident herself and responded with the perfect response.

In response to the BBC Tweet, she shared another ‘fake’ skill of hers.

She captioned a photo of her with a piano: “I can play fake piano too…”
