BBC Beyond Paradise star Barbara Flynn reveals surprising job away from the cameras
Beyond Paradise star Barbara Flynn has revealed her surprising job away from the cameras when she’s not filming for the hit BBC show.
The actress, who plays Anne Lloyd in the spin-off Death in Paradise, is a woman of many talents and when she’s not filming, she also runs her own jewelry store.
During an appearance on This Morning on Tuesday alongside her co-star Sally Bretton, Barbara admitted that she makes her own jewellery, with some of her pieces even appearing on screen in the show.
Aware of her devious background, host DErmot O’Leary asked Barbara: ‘Cornwall, what a wonderful place. I mean, Barbara, you do some Cornish craft, don’t you? Some jewelry?’
The star then explained: ‘Well, I spent a lot of time going down to West Penwith, the first bump in England, to Penzance and all that. A really rocky, beautiful, bleak, beautiful place.”

Alison Hammond then asked: ‘But all the jewelery in the show is yours?’
‘Well, that started as a hobby and later became a business. And the first designer was very sweet and said, “Come on, Barbara, let’s use it.” And so yeah, I’m very happy to do it.”
She previously spoke about where her passion for making jewelry came from, she said The Sunday Express in 2013: ‘My father was a pathologist who did some silver workshops at West Dean College during his retirement.
“He would make different things for me, like a flat pendant with my initials, but it wasn’t until 2000 that I really became interested in making jewelry.”
The star also shared more details about her character’s search for love after viewers saw her go on a date with Richard last week.
Discussing how Anne tried to find love, she added: “She starts dating, which is a completely foreign world to her, and she’s completely lost.
‘And if there wasn’t a whole lot of help with pushing and sweeping and whatever else you have to do with Melina. Melina is a beautiful girl who plays Zoe, and she comes in and instructs Anne in the language.
‘And there’s someone in the farm shop who’s quite a go-getter, so she teaches her too. So a lot of information comes to her and she makes two connections. And eventually she hooks up on the second date with Richard’.
She told presenters Alison and Dermot: “Well, that started as a hobby and then turned into a business. And the first designer was very sweet and said, “Come on, Barbara, let’s use it.” And so yeah, I’m very happy to do it’

It comes after Kris Marshall appeared to rule out any crossover with Death In Paradise ahead of a new season of Beyond Paradise.
The season one finale of Beyond Paradise featured some elements of a crossover between the two BBC dramas, as Detective Inspector Humphrey Goodman – played by Kris – returned to the island of Saint Marie and even reunited with his old friend Harry the lizard.
However, there are no signs of any more tie-ins between the two series happening in the future, after Kris seemingly dismissed any possibility of this happening in season two.
Death in Paradise bosses Tony Jordan and Tim Key said in February 2023 that the difference between the two shows is that in the first episode of the spin-off, Humphrey has to solve a mystery that is not a murder.
Additionally, Beyond Paradise is set in the Devonshire town of Shipton Abbott, while the first is set on the fictional Caribbean island of Saint Marie.
