BBC presenter Isa Guha has revealed that she fell through a hole in the commentary box during the Test match between England and Sri Lanka.

The 39-year-old was a guest on Friday for coverage of the second day of the Test, a match which England dominated with Gus Atkinson hitting his maiden century.

However, the former bowler revealed on social media that she had suffered an accident during the match.

Guha posted a photo of the comment with part of it taped over and wrote: “Extreme measures after I fell in the hole yesterday,” with a laughing emoji.

A follower commented on the photo saying, “It’s a good thing they added an extra sleeve and removed the note. I guess I’m just making a stupid point now!”

Another wrote: ‘I’m glad you put an explanation behind that. I thought this was some sort of disciplinary process being demonstrated.’

A third wrote: ‘Isa, I hope you are okay and not injured. Take care of yourself.’

In 2002, Guha became the first ever woman of Indian descent to represent England in a sport, at the age of 17.

She retired from international cricket in 2012, but continued to play for Berkshire until she retired two years later.

The 39-year-old has worked as a presenter and commentator for ITV and Sky Sports and is now a regular feature of the BBC’s cricket coverage.

In 2023, she joined the presentation team for the coverage of the Wimbledon Championships.
