BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent is forced to present on her own with her co-star nowhere to be seen
Sally Nugent was forced to host BBC Having breakfast alone on New Year's Day, leaving the couch rather empty without a usual co-star.
The 52-year-old anchor usually fronts the morning news program with Jon Kay from Monday to Wednesday.
However, for the New Year's program on Monday, neither 54-year-old Jon nor any of the alternative male presenters such as Ben Thompson were anywhere to be seen as a typical duo.
Sally's letter went solo and covered a range of topics from the earthquake in Japanto the latest news about the war in Ukraine and the conflict between Israel and Gaza.
The journalist was not entirely alone, with colleagues on hand for the usual sports, weather and business bulletins.

Ben Boulos was in studio to discuss the latest news from the city and the energy price cap, John Watson was also present with the latest sports news and Matt Taylor with the weather.
They were rewarded for their work during the New Year with kind messages from loyal viewers who may have been fighting a hangover ahead of the early programming.
Many of them were aimed at the show's figurehead, with Sally being bombarded with well wishes and thanks.
