BBC Breakfast is flooded with complaints after ‘graphic’ botched plastic surgery scenes leave viewers sickened

BBC Breakfast has been hit with complaints after viewers were left feeling sickened by a “graphic” scene of botched plastic surgery while trying to enjoy their morning cereal.

The shocking clip aired at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday morning and featured a woman who had been unable to eat for years after a failed weight loss operation.

This excerpt tells the heartbreaking story of patient Pinky Jolley about her near-fatal battle with and dependence on a feeding tube after a failed surgery.

Pinky was forced to live on a liquid diet after flying to Turkey and paying £2,000 for the operation, which left her insides feeling like ‘concrete’ and her organs fused together.

But viewers were shocked by the scene in which the surgeon is seen in the operating room explaining to the interviewer how his corrective surgery will work.

Early risers were forced to watch shocking scenes, including surgical instruments being used on the woman’s abdomen and a camera showing the damage to her digestive system.

The woman in distress had been on a liquid diet for three years and was now suffering from severe anemia, which the surgeon said was an additional complication during the operation.

But the clip, which was accompanied by a discussion section about the dangers of weight loss surgery, shocked viewers with images that many found too graphic for morning news.

A shocked X user wrote: ‘graphic surgical scenes this early in the morning… mmm’.

While another wrote: ‘Surgery and dog poop, lovely Sunday topics this morning’

Others took to social media to vent their frustrations about the topic discussed over breakfast, while others felt it was an invasion of Pinky’s privacy.

Speaking directly to viewers, the surgeon shared, “After almost two hours, the bypass surgery is complete, but now Pinky will start losing weight extremely quickly.”

He added: “That’s why they’re putting in a feeding tube to stabilize her weight.”

But the clip left viewers shocked by the scenes that many found too graphic for the morning news and fans took to X to voice their opinions

After waking up from surgery, Pinky expressed relief that she was no longer dependent on a feeding tube through her nose.

She added that she felt like a “normal person” again.

It’s not the first time the public has vented their frustrations on BBC Breakfast.

Earlier this week, angry BBC Breakfast fans were unhappy with Naga Munchetty’s interviewing style and demanded that she and her co-host be replaced after Thursday’s episode, which some viewers likened to ‘children’s TV’.

Some viewers found the program too ‘light’ and not ‘full of news’.

During the most recent episode of the breakfast show, Naga and co-host Charlie Stayt, 62, spoke to Lauren Henry, Hannah Scott, Lola Anderson and Georgia Brayshaw – the British rowers who won gold in the women’s quadruple on Wednesday.

The hosts interviewed the team via video call, as they were still in Paris after their incredible success.

Speaking to the gold medallists, Naga said: ‘What we love about the Olympics is that we get to know you. Maybe we didn’t recognise your faces before the Games, but now we do.’

Naga spoke about Lola Anderson’s late father, who she previously spoke about in her post-win interview: ‘And we love the backstories.

“You know, we’re celebrating today, but everyone’s going to have someone special that they’re remembering. And I imagine one of those people is your late father.”

Lola appeared to become slightly emotional, saying the support was “really moving,” and referring to the way the games “bring people together from all walks of life.”

However, some BBC Breakfast viewers felt the question was too ‘personal’.

Fans of the show gave their opinion on the episode of X today:

‘Naga really ‘pushed the boat’ this morning with inane comments and personal questions. What a lack of EQ! Naga, she may not have wanted to talk about her late father at this time, and no, no one was to blame for ‘leaving it too late’! #bbcbreakfast.’
