BBC baking legend makes ‘triumphant return’ as ‘they score another top TV series after six months break’

A BBC baking legend is making her ‘triumphant return’ after a six-month break with a new TV series.

Dame Mary Berry is said to have landed another television show on BBC Two and a companion book this autumn.

The program will be called Mary Berry Makes It Easy and comes after her Britain’s Best Home Cook challenge show was canceled last September.

This left the beloved chef, 88, without a series on the BBC for the first time in a decade.

The sun reports that, however, Mary will return to our screens and is already hard at work filming the “beautiful new show.”

In the six-episode series, famous faces will join Mary with cooking dilemmas she can advise them on.

A TV source told the publication: ‘Makes It Easy is a triumphant return for Mary after a six month absence and she is currently busy filming the new programme. As the name suggests, she shares simple, attainable recipes.

‘In six episodes Mary is joined by familiar faces from the TV world who all have their own cooking dilemma. She will share the tricks and shortcuts she has learned over the years.

This will inspire her guests to be bolder back in their own kitchens and hopefully that will extend to viewers back home. It’s Mary at her heart-warming best, no complicated format or concept, just simple cooking for a beautiful new show.’

It comes after a recent spate of cooking show cancellations due to genre oversaturation.

ITV’s Bad Chefs and Channel 4’s The Great Cookbook Challenge with Jamie Oliver were recently dumped.

Speak against The sunsaid a TV insider, “The spate of canceled cooking shows on the schedules suggests viewers are getting fed up.”

They continued: ‘It seems Britain has lost its appetite for food.

“It’s a saturated market with so much competition, so it’s no surprise that some shows find it hard to stand out.”
