Bayern Munich have been told to forget about Fikayo Tomori in January after making inquiries about the AC Milan defender.

According to Sky Sports GermanyThe Bundesliga giants' sporting director Christopher Freund is a huge admirer of the England international and explored the possibility of reuniting Tomori with Three Lions teammate Harry Kane.

However, Bayern's interest will come to naught as AC Milan have made it clear in the report that they have no intention of selling the centre-back this month.

Tomori, who turned 26 last month, is under contract with the Rossoneri until June 2027 after signing a five-year extension in August 2022.

A product of Chelsea's youth academy, Tomori joined AC Milan on loan two years ago before making the move permanent six months later on a £27 million contract.

Tomori has made 129 appearances in all competitions for the Rossoneri and has established himself as a key player in Stefano Pioli's side, winning the 2022 Serie A title.

But despite being one of Milan's defensive linchpins, Tomori's England chances have been limited to just five games under Gareth Southgate.

The England boss surprisingly tested Tomori at left-back in the first half of the 2-0 win against Malta at Wembley in November.

“We have asked people to fill positions that are not their usual positions, such as Fikayo, and it is not easy for him to move up that path,” Southgate said at the time.

'We have problems with availability in that part of the pitch and you are trying to give some players a rest.'

Tomori lasted just 45 minutes in the role before being replaced by Newcastle skipper Kieran Trippier at half-time.

The AC Milan defender is expected to be out for at least six weeks after suffering a hamstring injury at the end of December.

The Rossoneri entered 2024 in third place in Serie A, nine points behind city rivals and league leaders Inter Milan.
