Bayern Munich ‘turn their attention to Man United target Randal Kolo Muani’ with the German giants ‘will prioritize signing a striker’ after conceding defeat in race for Declan Rice
Bayern Munich are planning to prioritize a new striker this summer, having missed their previous target Declan Rice, according to reports.
Rice was thought to be a priority for Thomas Tuchel’s side this summer before they appeared to be ruled out on Tuesday.
The Bundesliga champions appeared to be among the frontrunners to sign the West Ham captain, but were convinced the player would sign for Arsenal instead, resulting in defeat.
However, their sights appear to be set on Randal Kolo Muani, who has long been linked with a move to Manchester United, while the Red Devils also need a new No. 9.
The £105million-valued Eintracht Frankfurt star is said to have boosted United by admitting his dream was to play in the Premier League, but journalist Florian Plettenburg reports he is now on the radar of the Bavarian giants.
Thomas Tuchel’s squad is thought to prioritize a new No. 9 this summer after missing out on Declan Rice
Randal Kolo Muani was one of the top performers in the Bundeliga last season with 29 contributions
Plettenburg claimed a new No. 9 was the German champion’s main priority after missing out on Rice.
He further suggested that Kolo Muani is one of the names on Bayern Munich’s list of targets for the summer.
The player is still locked into a long-term contract he signed last summer, which will keep him in Frankfurt until at least 2027.
A potential draw for Bayern, however, is the fact that they can offer him a substantial pay rise, with Frankfurt currently unwilling to propose an increase in his pay, which is believed to be below £1.3 million per year.
Kolo Muani erupted in the World Cup, impressing France as he helped them to the final where they were eventually beaten by Lionel Messi’s Argentina on penalties.
The 24-year-old flourished in the Bundesliga last season, after he came over from Nantes on a free transfer in 2022.
He scored 15 times in 32 appearances in Germany’s top flight and provided 14 assists as one of the league’s top producers, with Frankfurt finishing seventh.
Overall, as much as 50 percent of Frankfurt’s goals in the division were the direct result of Kolo Muani’s contributions, underlining his importance to the side.
The German champion can offer the French striker a significant increase on his current salary
Kolo Muani is reportedly in the interest of Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United
The Frenchman has been strongly linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain and United, but the 24-year-old said he would rather play in England.
“It’s not just because you come from the Paris region and grow up there that you should automatically play for PSG,” Kolo Muani told Canal Football Club.
Honestly, who doesn’t dream of playing in the Premier League? It’s one of the best competitions out there. You dream of it. These are childhood dreams.
“But I’m not looking for the perfect club or the best club in the world. I’m really looking for the club that gives me the chance to express myself, earn playing time and most importantly let me grow.’
