Martin Odegaard was standing on the sidelines with his teammates when he noticed Bayern’s move and tried to urge his colleagues to get back on the field to defend.

However, the trick didn’t work, with the referee quickly blowing his whistle to restart play, much to the frustration of the Bayern players.

It forced them to start the process again from the throw-in, this time with everyone back in the right place.

Some fans felt that the incident was disrespectful to Arsenal, although it is unlikely that a goal or seriously positive play would have been allowed without the referee’s approval.

When dividing the final score on X (formerly Twitter) Arsenal wrote: ‘A Champions League journey to be proud of’, but it was not a sentiment shared by everyone.

While the Gunners finished top of their group last year, some questioned the caliber of their opponents, as well as the narrow win over Porto in the last 16 on penalties.
