- Ivan Toney is ambitious and wants to win titles… you can’t begrudge him that! It all starts
Bayern Munich are reportedly keen to make a move for Newcastle defender Kieran Trippier.
Trippier, 33, has been a revelation since moving to St James’ Park in January 2022 and has helped transform Eddie Howe’s side from relegation battlers to Champions League contention.
The full-back has also regularly captained the side in the absence of club captain Jamaal Lascelles and was named Newcastle’s Player of the Year in 2022-2023.
And according to The TelegraphThomas Tuchel’s side are keen to land the England star as they look to overtake Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the Bundesliga.
Bayern are four points behind Xabi Alonso’s men and are in danger of missing out on the title for the first time since 2011/2012.

Earlier this month, Tuchel confirmed that his side are hoping to strengthen Trippier’s position.
“We are looking for a right back who is strong in duels,” he said. ‘We’re going to see if something is possible.
‘Nous Mazraoui is on the African Cup, but we have also become used to Konrad Laimer as right back, even though that is not his best position.
‘If there is an opportunity in the market, we seize it. Otherwise it will stay that way.’
Trippier is said to have a close bond with his former Tottenham teammates Harry Kane and Eric Dier, with the former moving to Bayern on loan this month as Tuchel looks for reinforcements to help his stuttering side.
In addition to Mazraoui’s absence from AFCON with Morocco, star centre-back Kim Min-jae is absent from the Asian Cup with South Korea.
Trippier has been a key player for Newcastle since joining for £12million in January 2022

Trippier moved to Newcastle for £12 million after a two-and-a-half-year spell at Atletico Madrid, where he won LaLiga.
Since returning to the Premier League, the former Tottenham and Burnley defender has scored three goals and added 18 assists in 81 games.
The news of Bayern’s interest comes after Newcastle CEO Darren Eales admitted last week that the club may have to sell players to remain compliant with the FFP, which allows the top sides to lose £105 million over three years.
Following Eales’ admission, Howe lamented the club’s lack of money and friends in their attempts to strengthen this month.
