Bayern Munich have turned to Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha as they look to further strengthen before the deadline.

With Ryan Gravenberch hoping to move to Liverpool or Manchester United, Thomas Tuchel wants to make sure he has plenty of dynamic options for his own midfield.

Manchester United’s Scott McTominay was named one of the names mentioned and Bayern have also eyed Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher, but a deal for Portugal international Palhinha is now being evaluated as the clock ticks towards Friday’s 5pm Bundesliga deadline.

West Ham had turned down a £45m offer for the 28-year-old earlier in the period and it is clear that Fulham will want around £60m if they consider letting him go at this stage.

Fulham are working on a number of goals, with Everton’s versatile midfielder Alex Iwobi debating one option.

Palhinha has been performing superbly since joining Sporting for €20 million and has established himself as one of the standout midfielders in the Premier League.

Liverpool is also an admirer, but his age runs counter to their profile for big investments.

Bayern see Gravenberch as an attacking midfielder where they have other top talents, while Palhinha is seen as more versatile.

The German champions are also in talks with Chelsea for defender Trevoh Chalobah following the sale of Benjamin Pavard to Inter, while talks have also been held for Tottenham’s Eric Dier.

A formal offer for Gravenberch has yet to be received, but the 21-year-old’s agents have spoken to both Liverpool and United in hopes of a speedy resolution.
