Bayern Munich ‘set Tottenham deadline TONIGHT’ to accept Harry Kane’s offer before turning to other striker goals as Daniel Levy plays hardball

  • Bayern Munich have rejected a £85 million bid for Harry Kane
  • Tottenham are seeking nearly £100 million for the prolific England striker
  • Reports suggest Bayern will turn to other targets if the latest offer is not accepted

Bayern Munich have reportedly given Tottenham Hotspur a Friday midnight deadline to accept their latest bid for Harry Kane.

The German champions are in pole position to sign the England striker, but have already seen a £85m bid rejected by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

Spurs are demanding compensation of nearly £100 million for their prize money, but according to the Daily telegramBayern will walk away and consider other targets if a deal cannot be approved quickly.

If Kane doesn’t get his move to Bayern, he is expected to sit out the final year of his Spurs contract and leave next summer for nothing.

Both clubs – plus Kane himself – want the situation resolved with just a week left before Spurs start their Premier League campaign at Brentford.

Kane has been Thomas Tuchel’s main target all summer and cautious optimism remains that a deal can be struck

Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel installed Kane, 30, as his number 1 target earlier this summer, but if no agreement is reached in the next few hours, the German club will leave.

The Bundesliga giants are prepared to break their paid club record – the £68 million paid four years ago for central defender Lucas Hernandez – to secure Kane.

The Telegraph says a ‘cautious confidence’ remains that an agreement can be reached after talks between the respective club hierarchies.

They say Bayern will have to offer Tottenham a guaranteed fee of £86m plus add-ons to push through the sale of Kane, despite the risk of losing him for nothing in 2024.

Kane has shown no desire to extend his contract with Tottenham and the ball is now in Levy’s court after Bayern’s apparent ultimatum.

The England record goalscorer would be happy to join Bayern despite his pursuit of Alan Shearer’s Premier League record of 260 goals. Kane is currently 47 short.

According to reports, there was a £20 million difference between what Bayern were willing to pay for Kane’s question and Spurs when face-to-face talks between club officials took place on Monday.

Spurs chairman Levy met with Bayern chief Jan-Christian Dreesen and technical director Marco Neppe in London.

Ideally, Bayern would finalize the signing of Kane for next Saturday’s DFL-Supercup against RB Leipzig.

The opening game of their Bundesliga campaign as they aim for a 12th consecutive title is next Friday at Werder Bremen.

Bayern’s transfer cat was boosted by the sale of Sadio Mane to Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr for £24m, but his departure has accelerated the need to bring in another striker.
