Bayern Munich have confirmed the arrival of Michael Olise from Crystal Palace on a five-year contract.

The official announcement marks the end of a long-running transfer saga that has been going on since it began in June.

Olise will play a key role in the plans of new coach Vincent Kompany, who is looking to modernise a team that finished second behind Bayer Leverkusen last season, ending a run of 11 consecutive Bundesliga titles.

Bayern are said to have paid £49.5million to secure the services of the France youth international.

In a video shared on the club’s social media, the 22-year-old wore the Bavarian club’s famous red shirt.

The Bundesliga club reportedly paid £49.5million to secure the 22-year-old’s signature

In an interview with the club’s website, Olise stressed that he is determined to prove himself in the Bundesliga and win as many titles as possible.

“The talks with FC Bayern went very positively and I am very happy that I can now play for such a big club,” said Olise.

‘It’s a great challenge, and that’s exactly what I was looking for.

‘I want to prove myself at this level and do my bit to ensure that we win as many titles as possible with our team in the coming years.’

Bayern’s technical director Christoph Freund highlighted the key qualities that made Bayern want to sign Olise.

“Michael is quick, cunning, a threat in front of goal and very versatile in attack,” said Freund.

‘His goals and assists statistics are already excellent. Michael is already very advanced at 22 years old, but also hungry and has a lot of potential.

‘Fans come to the stadium to see players like Michael Olise.’

Both Manchester United and Chelsea have been linked with a move for the winger this summer, with reports suggesting the Blues were prepared to offer two first-team players to secure his signature.

Olise began his career in the Arsenal youth system and then spent time in the youth academies of Chelsea and Manchester City before joining Reading in 2017.

Olise made his debut for the Royals two years later and became an important player for the club, which narrowly missed out on the play-offs in the 2020-2021 season.

A move to Selhurst Park followed after then Palace boss Patrick Vieira activated his £8.37million release clause.

Olise played 90 games in all competitions for Palace, scoring 16 goals

In his second season at the club, Olise was voted player of the year by both fans and players, and became the youngest player in Premier League history to record three assists from open play in a single match.

Olise’s form continued to improve last season, reaching double figures for league goals for the first time in his career and providing six assists in just 14 starts, despite two hamstring injuries limiting his participation.
