Bayern Munich are monitoring former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as a potential interim manager if they decide to sack Thomas Tuchel, according to reports in Germany.

The German giants are reeling after three successive defeats left them eight points behind in the Bundesliga and one goal behind in the second leg of the Champions League last 16.

Tuchel has come under increasing criticism as Sunday’s 3-2 defeat to Bochum increases the pressure on the former Chelsea boss.

Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso has been linked as a long-term candidate, while former manager Hansi Flick is also rumored to be in a role until the end of the campaign.

However, according to Sky Germany, Solskjaer is a shock name in line to take charge at the Allianz Arena until the end of the campaign.

Reporter Florian Plettenberg claimed on Monday that the 50-year-old was being seen as a potential replacement, although the preference of club chiefs at this stage is Tuchel.

He continues: there is no concrete agreement between the two parties, but Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund has been following Solskjaer’s path for years.
