Bayern Munich are ‘in advanced talks with Kyle Walker’s representatives to seal a move for the Man City star’ with an ‘agreement said to be imminent following an offer of a two-year deal’

Bayern Munich are reportedly in ‘intensive talks’ with Kyle Walker’s representatives over a possible move this summer, with an agreement said to be ‘imminent’.

The Manchester City right-back has been linked with leaving the Etihad after his Champions League final was discussed by Pep Guardiola and Bayern over a £15 million transfer to sign him.

Mail Sport reported earlier this week that Walker would prefer to extend his time at City if possible.

Now in an update since then, a report from German news channel Sport Bild claims Bayern have offered the England international a two-year contract, including an option for a third if certain targets are met in his second year.

The report further claims that an agreement is ‘imminent’ and that the German champions would technically be breaking their own ‘unwritten rule’ by bringing the 33-year-old to the Allianz Arena with the reported contract offer.

Typically, Bayern only offer players over the age of 30 – who are already at the club – one year contracts, but their offer to Walker would break that as they did the same for newly hired goalkeeper Yann Sommer.

It was reported on Sunday that Walker was in advanced talks to join Bayern with manager Thomas Tuchel, formerly of Chelsea, said to be “a key factor” in the plan to bring the defender to Bavaria.

Walker was omitted from City’s starting line-up for the Champions League final against Inter Milan, which they won 1–0.

That stupidity had fueled speculation that the England star would leave the Premier League champions in the summer transfer window.

Mail Sport previously reported that Sheffield United were keen to bring Walker to Yorkshire, although a move to Munich would have allowed him to continue playing Champions League football next season.

The Blades are Walker’s home club and would love to welcome him back after his departure in 2009 as they adjust to their first season in the Premier League.

From Sheffield United, Walker moved to Tottenham Hotspur, where he remained until joining Manchester City in 2017.

Since then, he has made over 250 appearances for City and won 12 trophies, including five Premier League titles and the Champions League.

The defender played in Man City’s only previous UCL final in 2021 and admitted to being ‘disappointed’ after being left out for last weekend’s clash with Inter Milan – although he did come off the bench in the last 10 minutes of the match.

Reflecting on the win, the defender said: “We couldn’t work as hard as we did all season to throw him out. The boys dug deep. I got a silver medal last time, so to have a gold medal is fantastic.”
