Bayer Leverkusen is preparing for the departure of Xabi Alonso in the summer, according to reports.
Alonso is one of the most in-demand coaches in the world after a hugely successful season with Bayer Leverkusen, which saw them win the Bundesliga title unbeaten.
The German side also won the DFB-Pokal and reached the final of the Europa League, where they were defeated by Atalanta.
Alonso turned down the opportunity to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool and stayed with Leverkusen.
The 42-year-old’s current contract with the German side ends at the end of the 2025/26 season but is expected to leave next summer, the newspaper said. Heaven Germany.

Manchester City are said to be showing concrete interest in Alonso, with Pep Guardiola’s future at the Etihad still uncertain.
Guardiola’s contract with City expires at the end of the season and he is yet to commit his long-term future to the club.
Alonso is also a candidate for former club Real Madrid, despite Carlo Ancelotti’s current contract expiring in 2026.
The Spaniard made 236 appearances for the La Liga giants and was part of the side that won the Champions League in 2014.
Leverkusen is already looking for Alonso’s successor, with Stuttgart boss Sebastian Hoeness and German assistant manager Sandro Wagner among others being considered.
The former midfielder is also a candidate for former club Real Madrid, despite Carlo Ancelotti’s (photo) current contract expiring in 2026.

Leverkusen is currently fourth in the Bundesliga, three points behind leaders Bayern Munich after eight games.
Alonso’s team came from behind on Saturday to beat Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 thanks to goals from Robert Andrich and Victor Boniface.
