Battlefield 2042 is getting a Dead Space crossover event next week

Dice has announced a brand new collaboration event for Battlefield 2042 who will see content inspired by Empty space added to the game.

The Battlefield 2042 X Empty space A limited-time crossover event, scheduled to start on July 9 and run until July 16, will introduce a new mode called Outbreak, inspired by the survival horror game.

According to the developer, Outbreak “tests teams’ human resilience and ingenuity against a new and relentless enemy as they attempt to escape the Boreas laboratory.”

To give you a taste of what to expect, Dice has pre-announced the event with an official reveal trailer, which you can check out below. It sees teams battling it out against zombies that resemble the Necromorphs from the Empty space series.

During the week-long event, players can also unlock free rewards for participating, including items like a new weapon charm, a skin inspired by the horror game, a player card background, and a tag.

The collaboration will also include an exclusive Empty space bundle with a legendary specialist outfit called ‘Marked Man’, three legendary weapon skins and more goodies. The bundle can be purchased for 2200 BFC.

This event is part of Battlefield 2042‘s current Season 7: Turning Point, which will be the game’s final season.

Die announced news from April, which confirmed that Season 7 would conclude the first-person shooter’s post-launch content but continue to support the game with new in-game challenges, events, modes, and maintenance.

“We know this news may be disappointing,” said Byron Beede, CEO of Battlefield“However, when we looked at what the future of the series required, it became clear that it was time to shift our resources and focus fully on what was next.”

As for the next step for the Battlefield In May, Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson confirmed that the next installment would be “another great live service.”

Motive, the studio behind the 2023 remake of Empty space And Star Wars: Squadrons, joined the Battlefield team at EA earlier this year, along with Criterion and Ripple Effect, to help build a “Battlefield universe through connected multiplayer experiences and single-player”.
