Battle of the bands! Oasis kids and Blur hit the Burberry show at London Fashion Week

Given their renewed love for each other and the upcoming tour, it was hoped that the Gallagher brothers would be among the guests at yesterday’s Burberry show – not least because Liam’s son, 25-year-old Lennon, modelled at the presentation last year.

But it was a different kind of Britpop royalty who took pride of place at the London Fashion Week event: Blur frontman Damon Albarn, Oasis’ arch-nemesis.

Whether the legendary feud between Blur and Oasis has been passed down through generations is unclear. But to be on the safe side, Albarn and his daughter Missy may have sat far away from Gallagher’s guests.

Among them were Noel’s daughter Anais, Liam’s daughter Molly and his sons Lennon and Gene.

Lennon’s mother Patsy Kensit was also in attendance, looking chic in black ankle boots and a black belted Burberry trench coat.

The Gallaghers weren’t the only guests making it a family affair. Jerry Hall (left) and her daughter Elizabeth Jagger (right) were also in attendance.

Although Burberry recently fell off the FTSE 100 index of British companies after its shares hit a 15-year low, the brand is taking a “no expense spared” approach to its VIP guest list.

Celebrities from stage, screen and sport joined music industry luminaries to watch the unveiling of a spring/summer 2025 collection that the brand’s chief creative officer, Daniel Lee, will be counting on to turn things around. The Gallaghers weren’t the only guests making it a family affair. Jerry Hall and her daughter Elizabeth Jagger were also in attendance, as were married couple Rio and Kate Ferdinand.

They were joined by models Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Iris Law, David Gandy and Poppy Delevingne, actors Olivia Colman, Barry Keoghan, Jodie Turner-Smith and even members of the royal family in the form of Lady Amelia Windsor.

British Olympic gold medallist Keely Hodgkinson was also spotted wearing a striking orange biker jacket.

Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour showed her support by swapping her Harris-Walz 2024 scarf for one from Burberry ahead of the US election.

Should these stars be attending the Oasis reunion next summer, they’ll certainly have plenty of inspiration for what to wear. The collection was a tour de force of outerwear that looked ideal for a humid English summer.

Lily Donaldson, Burberry’s regular model, wore a light blue parka with an embellished hood, while another well-known Burberry face, Edie Campbell, wore a similar, shorter version.

Rainwear came in a variety of styles, including capelets, belted safari jackets, bombers and blousons, in a faded pastel palette of pale green, tangerine and lilac, offset by earthy neutrals. Trench coats – the brand’s cash cows since Thomas Burberry created them in 1879 – were reinvented for spring in a delicate daisy print, and also appeared in more traditional neutrals.

The fabrics were lightweight and included cotton, silk poplin and bonded linen.

The collection draws heavily on the 1990s, with mesh polo shirts, zip-up combat trousers and anoraks all making an appearance, along with the clog, the most commonly worn item of clothing at the time.

Whether it will be strong enough to boost the brand’s ailing sales figures, the verdict is: ‘certainly possible’.

Like the British weather this collection was designed for, fashion is notoriously fickle.
