Inside Dame Kristin Scott Thomas’s VERY British secret wedding to Bloomberg editor John Micklethwait from the menu to touching family gifts

Dame Kristin Scott Thomas has revealed she has secretly married her partner of five years.

The Four Wedding and a Funeral actress married Bloomberg editor-in-chief John Micklethwait in September.

The fiercely private 64-year-old confirmed the wedding had taken place in her husband’s hometown of Rutland, and even revealed what British main course was on the menu.

She told the Ruthie’s Table 4 podcast: ‘We had coronation chicken. It was a treat, it was absolutely delicious.”

The podcast is hosted by River Cafe owner Lady Ruth Rogers, who introduced her friend. She said: ‘As she sits here today, she is basking in the love and joy of the fact that just a few weeks ago she married the editor and my friend John Mickelthwait.’

Dame Kristin, who plays MI5 spy Diana Taverner in Slow Horses, said she also received a very personal wedding gift from her sister.

She said: ‘She was given all the family recipes that my mother had collected, from my great-grandmother in Scotland to my other grandmothers everywhere, on both sides of the family. She scanned them and turned them into a book for me.’

The star also gave a nod to her co-star Jack Lowden’s secret wedding to Little Women actress Saoirse Ronan in the summer.

Speaking about her four years working on Slow Horses, Dame Kristen said: ‘So much happens in those four years, people have died, people have been born, people have divorced, people have married. This year alone we’ve had two weddings: Jack’s and mine.’

‘I long for stability and not to be able to spend more than two weeks racing around the world and sleeping in the same bed. Bliss. This is one of those jobs. The same people behind the camera for four years.’

She was previously married to French obstetrician François Olivennes from 1987 to 2005. They share three children Hannah, Joseph and George.

Husband number two is John Mickelthwait, 62, editor-in-chief of financial news agency Bloomberg, who recently interviewed US presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Dame Kirstin, who is trying to keep her love life under wraps, previously shut down any conversation with John during an interview with the Financial Times.

When asked about their romance, Dame Kristin said: I’m not going to talk about him. I’m talking about me.’

In 2013, Dame Kristin gave a rare insight into her private life, joking that she would probably stay single for life because “all men will run for the hills” when they see it.

The actress told the Sunday Telegraph: ‘It’s incredibly difficult to keep relationships alive when you have a lifestyle like mine. I’m never in one place for more than a few weeks.’

She also admitted that her personal life often suffers because of her career.

She said, “If I signed up to do something, I have to do it right. So I have to turn off personal life. I can make a quick phone call during lunch, but I just can’t handle everything else.

‘So it’s actually a bit of an escapism. Is it complicated at home? Get a job! Go somewhere else and pretend I’m someone else.’
