Basketball legend Andrew Gaze leaves AFL viewers stunned over X-rated gaffe on Fox Sports

Basketball legend Andrew Gaze is a surprise hit with footy fans thanks to his on-screen demeanor — but he shocked those viewers with a highly X-rated blunder on Sunday night.

The 57-year-old has made a seamless transition to television since retiring from a stellar 20-year career that included five Olympics, earning him acclaim as an astute commentator on basketball around the world.

But it’s like one of the four hosts of cult hit Fox Footy show Bounce where Gaze really shines and falls in love with fans young and old.

As the sweet-natured, bumbling basketball legend who sits alongside footy greats Jason Dunstall and Cameron Mooney, Gaze offers a point of difference alongside more rugged figures as they discuss the good, bad, ugly and bizarre of each AFL round.

But the affable, bumbling demeanor changed on Sunday night’s episode when Gaze hosted the show’s most popular “Turn It Up” segment, where the Boomers rip into viral video stars great.

Basketball legend Andrew Gaze has shocked fans after a surprising X-rated blunder on live television

Appearing on the cult hit Fox Footy show ‘Bounce’, the 57-year-old accidentally blurted out ‘a contest to see who can take the biggest d**k?’, leaving his co-hosts in the lurch

A clip was shown of a man bizarrely testing how strong his testicles are by dropping a watermelon on them from quite a height.

And Gaze described the situation in great detail as he led to what will now go down in the books as an iconic and infamous X-rated blunder.

“When it comes to performing those really gnarly stunts out there, it’s much better to leave it to the young people,” he said.

“Because the minds of the young people are not yet fully developed. We know as men that the testicles are the most sensitive area. Why would you ever want to test who has the strongest testicles?’

“Now there are certain things when you want to push the limits of what human capacity is.

“(But) have a contest to see who can take the biggest cock?”

Gaze quickly corrects himself by saying “biggest hit,” twisting his face into a mixture of surprise, disgust, and hilarity, while Dunstall, Mooney, and Bernie Vince burst out laughing at his blunder.

“To see who can take the biggest blow to the aggotts isn’t much fun,” Gaze repeats, trying to recover from the mistake.

Fans were both shocked and amused by the Freudian slip-up, with even fellow Australian basketball player Andrew Bogut explaining his delight: “Everything makes sense now, Andrew Gaze,” the NBA star joked.

God I love Andrew Gaze…Always a laughing stock,” one fan wrote, while one female fan joked, “Just want to know if applications are open yet for the competition to take the biggest…eh .’

The basketball legend, pictured coaching the Sydney Kings in 2018, is far from the first footy figure to make an X-rated blunder

Gaze is far from the first figure in footy to make an unintentional X-rated comment.

AFL great, legendary commentator Gerard Healy, went viral around the world when he famously combined Coast and Suns in an iconic blooper in 2013.

Then Ex-Swans star Logie winning breakfast presenter Tony Armstrong let fans down when he referred to then Australian cricketer Tim Paine’s ‘bulging d**k’, rather than the bulging disc in his back.

That blunder took on a life of its own when it was later discovered that the married father had sent ‘d**k pics’ to a colleague at Cricket Tasmania before he was subsequently suspended as an Aussie skipper.

Footy supremo Eddie McGuire was another who accidentally slipped c**t in the air, though he pretended to say Port Adelaide legend Kane Cornes’ name instead of the rude word.

AFL broadcasters take note: it’s clearly something that is a very real fear of footy figures in the media!
