Baseball fans were anything but welcoming to Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift after the power couple graced Yankee Stadium for Game 1 of the ALCS between the Yankees and Guardians.
Swift has become a fixture at Chiefs games as she supports her boyfriend. While some are happy with her presence, other fans have become exhausted by the screen time she gets during broadcasts.
After the MLB Twitter account showed a video of the pair, fans of America’s favorite pastime undermined the idea with their comments.
“They’re on TV enough in football, we don’t need them here either,” one fan wrote.
‘Try [boost] I see those reviews,” wrote a second.
MLB fans urged Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce to ‘stick to football’ during the ALCS
‘Is MLB that desperate for ratings? I think so,” said a third. “Too bad, I’ll change the channel. So far I have been watching the ALCS game.”
“I was wondering why everyone was booing,” a fourth added.
More fans flooded the comments section with apathy towards their presence, with ‘who cares’ and ‘shut up’ echoing through the comments.
Meanwhile, other fans faulted Swift and Kelce for being disloyal for showing up at a Yankee game. One fan pointed out that Ohio native Kelce didn’t announce his Guardians fandom in enemy territory.
“He’s said to be a Guardians fan,” the fan wrote. “What a sellout.”
“Kelce during a Yankees playoff game when Yankees eliminated Kansas City Royals,” wrote another.
After the MLB Twitter account posted the pair, fans expressed their opposition and apathy
Another took a swipe at Swift, writing, “Isn’t she a Phillies fan? What is she doing.’
The Guardians defeated the Detroit Lions in five games to advance to the American League finals. On the other hand, the Yankees defeated Kansas City in four games.
The winner of the ALCS will face the winner between the Dodgers and Mets on the other side of the bracket.
