Barry Morphew and his daughters are ‘immensely shocked and struggling with grief’ after wife Suzanne’s remains are found three years after she vanished: ‘They had faith their wife and mom would walk back into their lives’

Suzanne Morphew’s husband has said he and his daughters have been left ‘extremely shocked’ and heartbroken after the missing mother’s remains were eventually found in a shallow grave, adding that they believed they would one day ‘be again would return in their lives’.

Barry Morphew’s attorney, Iris Eytan, issued a statement on behalf of the family on Wednesday after news emerged that the remains found in a remote desert area 50 miles south of the Morphew home in Salida, Colorado, were Suzanne’s .

Eytan insisted that Barry – who was arrested on suspicion of murdering his wife, only for the charges to be dropped days later in 2021 – is “as innocent as he was from day 1.”

“Barry is with his daughters and they are all struggling with enormous shock and sadness after learning today that their mother and the family they love dearly have been found dead.

‘They were confident that their wife and mother would return to their lives. The news is heartbreaking,” Eytan wrote.

Suzanne Morphew disappeared without a trace on May 10, 2020, after leaving her home for a Mother’s Day bike ride. Her bicycle was found that same day, and now her body has finally been found, more than three years later, in Moffat, Saguache County, while investigators investigated a completely different case.

“Neither the district attorney nor authorities notified Mallory and Macy Morphew of their mother’s recovery.

“As far as we know, Barry is as innocent as he was from day 1. Da Stanley and the police were wrong.

‘We hope that the authorities will soon admit their wrongful prosecution of Barry, an innocent man, treat the Morphew’s as the victims they are, and find the person(s) responsible for Suzanne’s murder to sue.

“The Morphew’s would appreciate their privacy during this very emotional and personal time.”

Suzanne, a 49-year-old mother of two, disappeared on May 10, 2020, after going for a bike ride on Mother’s Day.

Her bicycle was found the day she went missing, discarded in a ravine near her mountain home in Salida, 140 miles south of Denver.

Investigators have revealed that they found her “scattered remains” 50 miles from her bicycle, in Moffat, Saguache County, while investigating a completely separate case. She had been buried in a shallow grave, the coroner called to the scene said, and her bones then scattered over the years.

No arrests have been made since the remains were found on September 22, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation confirmed on Wednesday, and her identity was confirmed on September 27.

In May 2021, a year after Suzanne disappeared, her husband Barry Morphew was arrested and charged with murder – despite police finding no body.

Last year, prosecutors dropped all charges against Morphew after a judge sanctioned the district attorney’s office for violating discovery obligations.

The case was dismissed outright despite defense objections, meaning the case could still be refiled if new evidence comes to light.

A source close to Barry Morphew said this The American sun that they thought he would be completely exonerated.

“It’s a relief but also a great sadness,” a source close to Barry Morphew told the website.

‘We now know that she is no longer alive, as we had desperately hoped.

“But we hope that Barry’s name can be cleared because of the location where she was found and the timing of it all.”

Barry Morphew was working in the Denver suburb of Broomfield, about 150 miles from the family home, at the time of his wife’s disappearance, and the body was found even further away.

The source added: ‘We are all in shock. Hopefully there will be answers.’
