Barcelona president Joan Laporta insists he is not jealous of Real Madrid as they close in on Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe.
Madrid have reportedly reached an agreement with Mbappe, which will see the attacker join on a free transfer in the summer.
While this news will undoubtedly have been a huge blow to fans of bitter rivals Barcelona, Laporta insists there is no jealousy whatsoever on his part.
“No, not at all,” Laporta told Mundo Deportivo when asked if he was jealous of Madrid’s pursuit of Mbappe.
‘But I don’t know if they will sign him or not. Let’s see. (If they do) they have a problem there.

Mbappe will reportedly leave PSG and join Madrid on a free transfer next summer
They’ll have to transfer a player, right? Because two players are not going to play in the same position…
‘And speaking of the numbers involved in the deal, it will certainly skew the dressing room. It’s not a gift.’
Over the past two summers, both Mbappe and Real Madrid have been involved in transfer sagas, with everything seeming to point towards a stunning move on both occasions. However, Real was left red-faced both times.
Mbappe was free to negotiate with other clubs from January 1 as he had officially entered the final six months of his PSG contract. Therefore, Real Madrid began negotiating with the 25-year-old shortly afterwards.
Madrid have assembled one of the most formidable squads in Europe and a top striker is the only missing piece.
Barcelona, meanwhile, continues to be hampered by financial problems, meaning that signing Mbappe’s profile is not possible at this time.
