The signing of Dani Alves is one of the transfers that has the club in trouble because the salary limits have been exceeded
In total, the three penalties amount to almost 800,000 euros (£705,000), in another detrimental blow to the club.
In November, Sportsmail reported that Barcelona president Joan Laporta was trying to convince La Liga to be more flexible with its FFP rules after admitting that his club could not make any transfers in January.
The Catalan giants spent more than £130m to upgrade Xavi’s squad over the summer, which included the arrival of Robert Lewandowski.
But their push for a first title since 2019 seemed to have taken a toll after Laporta claimed they cannot bring anyone through the gate in January due to current financial restrictions.
Andreas Christensen was also brought to the Camp Nou but due to his salary exceeding the club limits, Barcelona is being sanctioned.
He told reporters at the time: ‘We had to use some levers, which were financial operations that saved the club from ruin, and now the club is in financial recovery.
‘It is now in good health with forecast revenue of €1.225m (£1bn) and a budgeted profit of €274m (£240m).
“But, despite that, according to the financial fair play rules of the Spanish league, we cannot sign.”
The third sanction was due to the renewal of the contract of the Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo
To offset the losses and comply with LaLiga’s financial fair play rules, the club sold 25 percent of its national television rights and a 49 percent stake in Barca Studios for more than 700 million euros (609 million euros). sterling).
This allowed them to reinforce themselves in the summer with players like Lewandowski, Jules Kounde and Raphinha.
The president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, exposed the problems to Mundo Deportivo. “The levers have worked for them this season but not next season,” he said.
“They have to reduce the wage bill, they cannot continue with more than 500 million euros (436 million pounds).”
Barcelona are trying to force some club legends out as soon as possible to help repair their finances.
Gerard Piqué recently retired, while the likes of Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets could leave the club at the end of the season.
