Barcelona eye ‘cut-price attacking trio of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Yannick Carrasco and Abde’

Barcelona eye ‘attacking trio of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Yannick Carrasco and mercenary Abde’ as tight Catalans prepare for summer exits to fund Lionel Messi’s return to Camp Nou

  • Barcelona must make up a financial shortfall of £178 million to sign players
  • Youngster Abde impressed the club as he joined Osasuna on loan this season
  • Messi has been offered £320 million a year at Al-Hilal, but what would his life be like?

Barcelona’s summer plans are thought to revolve heavily around a return to the Nou Camp for icon Lionel Messi, but they have also hinted at further options if they part ways with some attacking players.

Earlier in May, it was confirmed that Messi would leave PSG at the end of his current contract, with Barca, Inter Miami and Al-Hilal all linked with a move from the 35-year-old.

But if the Blaugrana are to have any chance of bringing in their former star, they’ll need to sell players to make up a £178 million financial shortfall before bringing in new faces in the summer.

As such, the club would have planned further price cuts to bolster their ranks as a number of players may have to leave to raise the necessary funds, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

Among that list is believed to be the attacking triumvirate of Atletico Madrid’s Yannick Carrasco, former Barca star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and the club’s young mercenary Abde Ezzalzouli, who plied his trade with Copa del Rey finalist Osasuna.

And those who might leave the club to free up some much-needed room in the budget would include Raphinha, Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres on the attack, according to the Spanish outlet.

Belgium international Carrasco is believed to be available for the Catalan giants for around £13.3m (€15m) in the summer, with his contract with the Wanda Metropolitano at the end of next season.

The deal to send Memphis Depay to Atleti in January reportedly included an agreement that Barca could bring in their man for the stipulated fee.

His agent – Pini Zahavi – is a close friend of Barca chief Joan Laporta, and it is believed the player has an admirer in Xavi and would provide more support as a left-footed right winger as well as a strong passer and dribbler on the ball.

Raphinha currently fills that role and Ousmane Dembele has played an occasional starring role this season, but the Brazilian is one such player who is rumored to be leaving the club.

Aubameyang only left for Chelsea last summer but has since had a torrid time scoring minutes and goals, and has been closely linked with a departure just a year into his stay.

The Gabonese striker still has two years left on a three-year contract he signed at Stamford Bridge at the start of the season, but both Barca and the player are looking forward to a free transfer.

Although his performance with The Blues was below average, he did enjoy some success during his brief stay at the Nou Camp at the end of last season after joining from Arsenal.

In 24 appearances in all competitions, Aubameyang scored 13 goals and an assist, including a hat-trick against Valencia in his third game with the club.

The third leg of the budget trident could be made by Abde, who has played on loan at Osasuna this season.

His return was already on the agenda and would naturally come as a bonus, as he will cost the Blaugrana nothing, but now he brings plenty of top-flight experience after his year on the court, with five goals and two assists in 29 appearances.

The Moroccan World Cup hero is highly regarded at the club and only a seismic bid can convince Barca to sell.
