Barcelona are in advanced talks with LAFC to sign central defender Mamadou Fall from LAFC The Athletics.

Both clubs are negotiating a loan deal with an option to buy towards the end of the 2023-24 LaLiga season, but it is understood no agreement is yet to be reached before the end of the Spanish transfer window on Friday night.

Villarreal have also expressed interest in Fall, who joined the club’s second team on loan last year.

The 20-year-old made 25 appearances for Yellow Submarine’s B team and even made one LaLiga appearance before returning to America this summer.

The Senegalese defender is one of the highest rated young talents in MLS and has made 42 appearances for LAFC since joining the club in 2021.

Mamadou Fall – a 21-year-old Senegalese central defender – is on the verge of sealing a move to Barcelona

He made three appearances for the California-based team since returning from his most recent loan spell in Europe.

LAFC currently ranks second in the Western Conference with 40 points accumulated from 25 games played. Last season they won their first MLS Cup and MLS Supporters Shield.

Earlier this year, Barcelona raided another MLS player: Julian Araujo.

The Mexican right-back moved to Spain in February after spending more than two weeks in limbo due to an 18-second delay that pushed the transfer past the January transfer window deadline.

The 22-year-old spent four years in the US with LA Galaxy before moving to Camp Nou for $4 million.

Araujo was loaned to Las Palmas on 1 August.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa have agreed to hire French central defender Clement Lenglet from Barcelona. They turn to the former Tottenham defender to replace Tyrone Mings after the latter suffered a horrific injury against Newcastle earlier this month.
