Barcelona are ‘hoping to sell FOUR first team players’ before their US tour begins on Wednesday

Barcelona hopes to ‘sell FOUR first-team players’ before their US tour kicks off on Wednesday… with Franck Kessie and Sergino Dest likely to leave

  • Barcelona terminated Samuel Umtiti’s contract with three years left
  • They want to sell four more players before starting their US tour
  • Franck Kessie is a player likely to leave due to interest from Juventus

Barcelona are “looking for four first-team players” ahead of their departure for their pre-season tour of the Americas next week.

Samuel Umtiti is so far the only player to leave the club this summer after his contract was terminated three years early, but Barca’s financial situation means they want to cut wage costs by selling more fringe players.

According to posts in diary AS, Xavi’s squad is still looking to transfer Clement Lenglet, Alex Collado, Franck Kessie and Sergino Dest before they leave for the US next Wednesday.

Lenglet was loaned out to Tottenham Hotspur last season but struggled to make much of an impact in a disappointing season for the north London side.

American fullback Dest was also away from Camp Nou at AC Milan for a while last season.

His form has been poor in Italy, making just eight appearances in Serie A, and while a sale is preferred, the club could be transferred to a new loan deal.

He has been linked with Bundesliga team Union Berlin, although there has been little movement following those reports.

As for Kessie, there is interest in the central defender from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal and Juventus, but the 26-year-old appears to be unfamiliar with either move.

According to reports in Marca, he would rather stay with Barcelona or join a Premier League side.

The Ivory Coast international only joined Xavi last summer and played a key role in their 2022-23 La Liga victory.

The last of the five players expected to be moved is Alex Collado, who returns from fellow LaLiga side Elche.

He has scored just one goal and assisted in 15 appearances in Spain’s top flight, and is set to leave with just one year left in his contract.

Barça will return to La Liga on August 13 when they take on Getafe in the first game of the 2023/24 season.
