The new Barbie Flip Phone was announced at Mobile World Congress, which kicked off this week in Barcelona.

“Is it time to swap reel life for real life and take a break from all the notification interruptions?” said Lars Silberbauer, chief marketing officer of Human Mobile Devices.

“We are pleased to partner with Mattel, a company that shares our commitment to meaningful innovation and social change.”

The smartphone appears to have a retro clamshell design and “promises to embody the vintage chic of the original girl empowerment brand,” according to HMD.

However, the tech giant is keeping tight-lipped about other features, including price.

“At the heart of Mattel is design and innovation, and this latest collaboration is another step forward in that direction,” said Ruth Henriquez, Head of Consumer Products, Publishing and LBE, Mattel EMEA.

“The launch of Barbie x HMD promises to be an exciting moment for Barbie fans of all ages. We are excited to flip the switch and unveil it to the world at Mobile World Congress.”
