Barbie fans FURIOUS over choice of song used in film’s new trailer

Barbie fans are outraged by the choice of song used in the movie’s new trailer, with one labeling it a “travesty.”

The upcoming live-action movie, directed by Greta Gerwig, sees the first dazzling glimpse of ‘Barbieland’ with Margot Robbie, 32, and Ryan Gosling, 42, showing off their comedic flair as the iconic puppets.

In the highly anticipated trailer, Barbie and Ken embarked on an adventure to the “real world” with the soundtrack to the Beach Boys’ 1964 song Fun Fun Fun.

However, fans soon took to social media in disappointment that Aqua’s iconic — and perfectly fitting — hit Barbie Girl was not featured.

With one writing, “The fact that this trailer isn’t on Barbie Girl is a travesty.”

A second said, “I feel like there’s a huge missed opportunity in this Barbie trailer. Why isn’t the theme song ‘Barbie Girl’ from Aqua?’.

With a third agreeing: “The most disappointing thing for me about the Barbie movie is how in the trailer they said ‘Hello Barbie’, ‘Hello Ken’ and then Barbie Girl from Aqua did NOT play”.

While a fourth movie fan wrote, “As great as that Barbie trailer was, you know a slow cut of Aqua’s Barbie Girl would have been the icing on the plastic cake.”

Some even promised to fix the apparent mistake and edited the trailer to include the 1997 hit Aqua.

Released in April 1997, Barbie Girl topped the charts worldwide and remains one of the best-selling singles of all time

Formed in 1989, the Danish-Norwegian band consisted of singers Lene Nystrøm, René Dif, as well as Søren Rasted and guitarist Claus Norreen.

They went on to produce three studio albums, Aquarium in 1997, Aquarius in 2000 and Megalomania in 2011.

In 2019, they announced a 1990s nostalgia tour, which will see them take the stage in five cities across Canada alongside fellow Eurodance legends Vengaboys.

Fans also pissed off Ryan Gosling for his resemblance to talk show host Ellen DeGeneres in the movie’s official trailer.

They quickly took to social media to taunt the 42-year-old La La Land actor for his resemblance to DeGeneres, 65, with her signature platinum crop and sports-luxe dress sense.

Others dismissed the decision to cast the actor in a typically youthful role, quipping, “Ken needs Botox.”

One fan wrote, “You guys gonna jump me if I say Ryan Gosling looks a bit like Ellen in that Barbie trailer? because if so, I DON’T SAY THAT!’ while another wrote, “Is that Ellen?”

Other fans wrote, “Barbie trailer looks INCREDIBLE but MAN Ryan Gosling as Ken looks SO OLD!!!! unfortunately the bleached hair doesn’t do what it’s supposed to do.’

Another labeled Gosling’s performance as an “aging generous Palm Springs daddy,” while another wrote, “Ryan Gosling looks fake old in the Barbie trailer.”

One fan wrote: is it just me or does Ryan Gosling look so older in the barbiefilmka trailer???? + the blonde makes him dirty.’

Also in the trailer, actress Margot is seen in her role as the doll who steps out of a pair of pink glittering heels.

As the blonde takes her feet off the shoes, viewers see her standing in the Barbie position, which makes it look like she’s wearing an invisible pair of heels — her foot arched and her toes pointed.

Fans have taken to social media to comment on the actress’s feet, with one fan writing, “Margot Robbie’s feet are about to make me buy a ticket to Barbie.”

“When Margot stepped out of the shoes and her feet remained in the shape of a Barbie doll, I knew it was over,” said another.

“Can we talk about how beautiful Margot Robbie’s feet are?” a third commented.

“The first shot of the Barbie The Movie trailer is a shot of Margot Robbie’s feet. They know there’s a huge group of guys willing to pay to see this in IMAX,” one of them said.

“As a Margot Robbie fan and foot fetishist, this might as well be Christmas,” one fan wrote.

“Big day for Margot Robbie fans who also have a foot fetish,” another joked.

One person commented, “I don’t have a foot fetish, but maybe Margot Robbie can change my mind.”

Barbie will be released on July 21
