Released on July 21 and starring Margot and Ryan as Barbie and Ken, Barbie sent fans on a pink-splattered adventure and grossed an astonishing $1 billion worldwide.

The movie has had a big effect on doll lovers, with one woman even dumping her boyfriend after he branded the movie offensive.

And now it’s filtered down to a new generation, with a popular baby name website revealing that it’s seen a phenomenal increase in searches for the nicknames “Barbie” and “Ken” in the wake of the film’s release.

The site has seen a ‘300 percent’ increase for Barbie and ‘200 percent’ for Ken in the month of July alone
