Barbes nightclub, Perth: Up to 50 people involved in ugly brawl outside club – with five people turning up at hospital

Police are investigating after reports of a bloody street fight outside a nightclub, involving 50 people according to a witness.

Although no officers or paramedics were called to the incident outside Barbes nightclub in Perth’s Hay Street city centre in the early hours of Saturday morning, five people later arrived at Royal Perth Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

On Saturday, police cordoned off an area outside the club and the nearby car park next to a TAB, where officers investigated a number of toppled temporary construction fencing.

Forensic officers examined several traces of blood on the sidewalk and street, along with other objects of interest marked on the bitumen as they took photos or bagged evidence.

Melissa Nightingable, who is homeless and was sleeping in her car behind the nearby Carlton Hotel when the brawl broke out between 4am and 6am, witnessed the fight.

“I just tried to sleep in my car, it’s really hard being homeless… so I tried to hide so they wouldn’t know I was the only one in my car. Then a group of them just took off,” she said.

“They started throwing rocks and gravel at my car… (I thought) they were going to break in (and that I was) going to be raped, killed or beaten.”

Ms Nightingable said at least two of the approximately 50 fighters were injured.
