Barack Obama met Anthony Albanese and the US ambassador to Australia just hours after the former US president arrived in Australia for a speaking engagement.

The 44th president of the United States and his wife, Michelle Obama, landed in Sydney on a private jet on Sunday evening before being taken away in a fleet of vehicles under police escort.

President Obama was greeted by the US Ambassador to Australia and John F. Kennedy’s daughter, Caroline Kennedy, after the motorcade stopped at a hotel.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese then received Obama at Kirribilli House on a rainy Monday morning.

The pair were all smiles as they posed together for the camera by the harbor while holding umbrellas.
