Barack Obama enjoys a round of golf with actor Don Cheadle in LA

Barack Obama is golfing mocking actor Don Cheadle, sporting custom shoes and a glove with the number 44, commemorating his term as the 44th president of the US.

Cheadle is a frequent golf buddy of the former president, and the duo were spotted out on the links over the weekend in Los Angeles.

On the outing was Michael Brush, a stalwart former White House staffer in the Obama administration who currently works for the family office of Barack and Michelle Obama.

Obama, who is left-handed, was seen wearing a custom Titleist glove on his right hand, with 44 discreetly embroidered red numbers. The numbers on his shoes were even more subdued, appearing on the white shoes in a barely noticeable gray.

Meanwhile, in an interview on Tuesday, Obama opened up about the amount of stress the presidency caused on his marriage, telling CBS “being out of the White House certainly helps.”

Obama said he did not appreciate the amount of stress and strain his wife Michelle underwent while raising their two daughters in the White House.

The former president’s comments come after Michelle spoke out candidly late last year, saying she “couldn’t stand” her husband during his eight years in senior office, while their children Malia and Sacha were young.

Speaking to CBS about how he recovered from his marital problems, Barack Obama said, “It definitely helps to be in the White House and have a little more time with her.

“Which also helps, about kids, Michelle, when our girls were growing up, that was priority one, two, three, and four.

“And so, as involved as a father like me, I couldn’t appreciate the level of stress and tension for her.”

Knowing that not only were me and Michelle under scrutiny and put in this strange environment, but we were raising our daughters in a kind of situation that just wasn’t normal.

“Now that they’re doing well, she’s a little more forgiving of my flaws.”

Barack said Michelle has since told him, “Looking back, you did a good job as a father.”

He added, “And if I pass that test, she’ll forgive me for most of my other weaknesses.”

Cheadle, for his part, also recently spoke to EW about Secret Invasion, his upcoming Marvel series for Disney+, in which he will star alongside Samuel L. Jackson.

The espionage series, out June 21, stars Cheadle as Air Force hero James “Rhodey” Rhodes and Jackson as gruff spymaster Nick Fury.

Cheadle told the outlet that the series will have more of a feel of a twisting Cold War spy thriller than the usual bombastic battle sequences and special effects of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“It speaks to the elasticity of what the MCU can be,” he said. ‘It’s not so much about the bells and whistles of great special effects. It’s more about the intrigue and drama, the espionage and deceit. And I still think it fits perfectly with what the MCU can do and get done.”

Cheadle also said the series will help set up the upcoming MCU movie Armor Wars, a planned standalone film centering on Rhodey, the superhero also known as War Machine.

“The nice thing about it is that we continue to explore Rhodey and — in some ways for the first time — get to see what makes him tick,” explains Cheadle.

“We understand his physical challenges, but we haven’t really delved into many of his emotional and psychological ones yet [challenges].’
