Barack and Michelle Obama landed in Barcelona yesterday ahead of Bruce Springsteen’s concert in the Catalan capital on Friday night.
The former president was seen on Thursday with singer and film director Steven Spielberg over dinner at the city center restaurant Amar with their wives.
El País reported that the Obamas are staying at the five-star Gran Hotel La Florida in the city, closely followed by a security detail.
The concert later today will be the first time Springsteen will visit Spain since May 2016, when he performed at Barcelona’s football ground, Camp Nou.

A caravan of cars with bright flashing lights drove through the city at night and escorted the group to the Gran Florida hotel.
The motorcade included a mix of Mercedes, BMW, a Range Rover and a local police car.
Later, a security detail was seen outside the luxury hotel that housed the Americans, with a line of black cars outside the door as police diverted traffic.
Drivers and police officers were seen scattered in cars waiting outside for several hours, according to El Pais.
Springsteen was seen with his wife Patti Scialfa, wearing light pants and a white jacket.
His wife wore a cream colored dress with tassels and a black blazer.
Barack Obama was seen going out wearing a green jacket and dark pants with black dress shows.
His wife, Michelle, wore a black embellished coat and held a silver purse.
Steven Spielberg was seen wearing a signature baseball cap, a jacket over a vest and a scarf.
The group ate at Amar in the center of town, a highly regarded seafood restaurant known for its oysters and caviar.
The staff of the restaurant took a picture with the well-known Americans.
Former President Obama previously had a podcast with Springsteen called Renegades: Born in the USA.
The show ran for eight episodes through the early months of 2021, shot at Springsteen’s New Jersey home.
They allegedly became friends during Obama’s 2008 election campaign.

Bruce Springsteen will perform with the E Street Band on Friday, April 28 at Estadi Olímpic, a stadium with a capacity of nearly 56,000 people in Poble Sec.
The leafy neighborhood is home to elegant 19th-century architecture, a vibrant creative scene, and an array of local bars.
Springsteen’s 2023 international tour kicked off in the US, will tour Europe and return to North America later this year.
The tour is Springsteen’s first with the E Street Bank since February 2017.
Springsteen will play two concerts in the city on April 28 and 30.
