‘Bankrupt’ Influencer Christie Swadling Caught FaceTiming Stepson While Driving

Christie Swadling was recently caught using the FaceTime app on her cell phone while driving.

The “bankrupt” influencer, 27, who had to write off her last luxury car, shared a clip of her phone call with stepson Kaden showing her driving a vehicle at the time.

It was shared again on Monday with the Instagram watchdog account Dutch Minty in a post pointing to the fitness guru’s misuse of a cellphone while driving.

In the video, Christie was on a video call with her fiancé Joel Price’s son as he set up and managed a “lollipop stand” on the side of the road near his mother’s house.

In the bottom right of the screen, Christie could be seen driving her car while looking from the camera to the road.

She originally posted the video to her own Instagram stories, writing, “Kaden is with his mom and FaceTimes me to show me his lollipop stand. I really can’t with this boy, such a crook. He also sells shit on my Facebook market account.”

Under the state laws of New South Wales, where Christie currently lives, a driver may receive an audio call while operating their vehicle under certain circumstances.

The mobile device must be attached to a holder attached to the car and can only be used if the driver does not need to touch any part of the phone.

All other functions including video calling, texting, emailing, social media, web browsing and photography are prohibited unless parked.

Since Christie was video calling her stepson instead of receiving an audio call, her use of the mobile device while driving could be considered illegal under NSW law.

According to the NSW Transport Department, the fine for illegal mobile phone use in NSW is $362, or $481 if detected in a school zone.

There is a five demerit penalty for illegal mobile phone use, which increases to 10 demerit points during double demerit periods.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out for comment.

It comes after Christie revealed in February that she was forced to write off her previous luxury car last year.

“For those who don’t know, I wrote off my car in town a few months ago…but my new car will arrive next month,” she said in an Instagram Q&A at the time.

While she didn’t give details about what happened to her latest vehicle, Christie did reveal that she bought a new 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander to replace her old car.
